APF Pool Design

Development of a tool for monitoring and managing industrial equipment

Context

APF is a company specialized in the manufacturing of pool equipment, including liners, covers, roller shutters, and other accessories. It mainly serves a private customer base. The company operates five production sites across France, with a large part of its activity concentrated between Lyon and Valence.

Main objectives of the client project

The goal of the project was to replace APF's in-house production tracking tool. Over time, this toll had become less intuitive and unreliable, causing malfunctions that sometimes hindered the company's operations.

We first implemented several fixes to the existing tool to ensure it would remain operational for one more production season (from March to September). This temporary solution gave us the time needed to design and deploy a new, more suitable system tailored to APF's needs.

The new solution

The new system is built around three main components :

  • The client portal (Extranet): this platform allows customers to create and track their orders. It was not within our scope, as the first version had already been developed by an external provider, Cyberg, who remained in charge of modernizing the interfaces.
  • The production tracking intranet (Bluenet): used across all factories, this tool now enables teams to plan and monitor production on a daily basis.
  • The interface server (Datacore): installed on APF's infrastructure, it connects the Extranet, Bluenet, the central data repository, and the Sage ERP. Datacore manages all data flows between applications, ensuring the stability and reliability of the entire system.

In summary, the project relies on three components: one managed by Cyberg (the Extranet) and two developed by our team.

Results of this project

Bluenet has already transformed the daily work of production teams. Thanks to smoother coordination across sites and reliable, transparent order tracking, time loss and oversights have been significantly reduced.

Factory managers now benefit from a clearer, real-time view of production progress. The tool also provides much finer traceability : each workstation is identified, allowing precise tracking of operations and performance.

Finally, Bluenet can be accessed from any device like computers, tablets, or smartphones and woks even on mobile networks (3G, 4G, 5G). This portability ensures continuous use, even in the event of internal network failures, allowing operators to access the application directly from the production floor.

This tailor-made project, born from a concrete operational need, has enabled APF to modernize its industrial processes, moving from a partially manual workflow to a fully digital, collaborative system perfectly suited to its operations.
